# Square Town > A favicon wall where every square is $1. Paste a URL, we grab your favicon, you own a square of internet real estate — until someone evicts you for double. Square Town (https://square.pov.town) is a favicon wall — a shared, live, 3D grid of tiny squares where each 1×1 square costs US$1, one time, and shows the favicon of a website. You paste a URL, Square Town fetches the site's favicon automatically (nothing to upload, no account, no subscription), you click an empty cell to pick your spot, pay $1 via Stripe, and you own that square. Clicking a square on the wall sends visitors to the site behind it. Key facts: - Price: $1 per square, one-time. Every square is 1×1; there are no sizes to choose. Optional $5 one-time unlock for per-day view/click analytics on your deed page. - The Throne: the 4×4 dead centre of the wall, one owner, intro price $100. Evicting the owner costs double the last price, and every eviction doubles it again. - Evictions: any square can be taken by paying double what its current owner paid; the evicted site is announced in the live feed. The next evictor pays double again, so prices escalate. - Kiss the icon: an icon that goes 90 days without being "kissed" fades to grayscale. Anyone can kiss any icon, free. - Ring unlocking: only the central 16×16 is live at launch; each time the live area is 70% full it grows by 8 cells in every direction, up to 1024×1024 (1,048,576 squares). - Hall of Clowns: sites with no favicon get a 🤡 until they add one. - Live and 3D: every buy, eviction and kiss is pushed to all open browsers over WebSockets; ctrl+drag tilts the wall into 3D where each favicon becomes a tower whose height is its click count. - Deeds: ownership is a secret deed URL (no accounts). Views and clicks are counted per square. - Built on Cloudflare Workers, D1 and one Durable Object; runs on the free tier so "forever" is credible. - Contact / takedowns: https://square.pov.town/contact or peter@theill.com. Terms: /terms. Privacy: /privacy. - Audience: indie developers, solo founders and small teams — especially people with many side projects who want all their favicons on one wall. ## Core pages - [The wall](https://square.pov.town/): the live favicon wall itself (interactive; needs JavaScript) - [Live stats](https://square.pov.town/stats): current numbers — squares sold, live area, fill %, Throne owner, boards, latest events (also https://square.pov.town/stats.json) - [How Square Town works — the complete rulebook](https://square.pov.town/how-it-works): How Square Town (square.pov.town) works — $1 squares, the $100 Throne, evictions for double, kissing icons, ring unlocks at 70 %, deeds, analytics and the 3D wall. - [Pricing — $1 a square, one time, forever*](https://square.pov.town/pricing): Square Town pricing: $1 per square one-time, the $100 Throne that doubles per eviction, evictions at 2× the last price, a $5 analytics unlock — and what's free. - [Frequently asked questions about Square Town](https://square.pov.town/faq): Every question about Square Town (square.pov.town) answered: buying a $1 square, deeds, evictions, the Throne, kissing icons, ring unlocks, clowns and payments. - [The Square Town manifesto — why the wall is a game](https://square.pov.town/manifesto): The Square Town manifesto: nine principles behind the $1 favicon wall — favicons not pixels, no sizes, location is the game, anyone can be evicted, kiss or fade. - [About Square Town](https://square.pov.town/about): About Square Town (square.pov.town): a $1-a-square favicon wall built in a day on Cloudflare's free tier by an indie developer with too many side projects. - [Square Town API — read the wall, buy a square](https://square.pov.town/api): The Square Town API: GET /api/state for the whole wall as JSON, /go/:id click redirects, kiss, view, recheck and deed endpoints, POST /api/buy, the /ws stream. - [Terms of service](https://square.pov.town/terms): The rules for using Square Town (square.pov.town) — what $1 buys, evictions and no refunds, what you may put on the wall, removals, and the limits of what we promise. - [Privacy policy](https://square.pov.town/privacy): What Square Town (square.pov.town) stores — no accounts, no trackers, Stripe for payments, per-square click and view counters, a few localStorage keys — and how to get removed. - [Contact & takedown requests](https://square.pov.town/contact): Contact Square Town (square.pov.town) — request removal of your domain from the wall, report a bug, or ask a question.
